Vegetable dish

The 2,000-square-meter plot consists of three sections: Toward the forest on the right side: the apiary; further on, the berries; and two 8-meter-diameter spirals for aromatic and medicinal plants. In the center are the raised beds for vegetable crops...

Apiary

We will launch the JDJ apiary once we receive approval from the veterinary service in April 2024, starting with two Buckfast bee colonies, guided by Cédric Périllat, founder of the Printemps Abeilles association in Geneva. He shares with us his passion for...

Common

Our garden features a bountiful collection of 37 fruit trees planted in 2000.

We have four local varieties of pear, apple, mirabelle, and prune trees.

Every fall, we spread leaves and a little organic manure to nourish the roots, which helps the trees grow stronger before flowering and retain more water from irrigation during the summer.

Thanks to Mika and Sam, who pruned the trees in early March 2024; to Teo and Noah, who did so in February 2025 before the sap began to rise; and to Cédric, who did so in February–March 2026.

In the summer of 2024, it was so hot that trees suffered from heat scald—a type of sunburn that causes the bark to split open. First, a healing ointment was applied to the cracks in the bark, followed by a coat of white paint (as is done in extremely hot climates); some particularly sensitive fruit trees were wrapped in strips of burlap.

Thank you all for the care that the young people from the garden and the young Woofers have given to the fruit trees on the property!

And here are the new buds on the pear trees—they're already starting to appear in early March!
