YOUTH GARDENS

AGROECOLOGICAL FRUIT FARM

Certified organic farm, open to young people ages 12–28

How? :

· By offering an organic farm spanning 2,000 square meters with themed gardens: an orchard, berry bushes, hedgerows planted to support local biodiversity, a pond, an apiary, and two greenhouses—all of which are essential infrastructure for cultivation and farm operations.

· By fostering a safe and supportive environment so that everyone can enjoy being themselves at the Jardin des Jeunes.

Purpose

This organic microfarm in Bernex, in the Geneva region, aims to produce food locally while providing young people ages 12 to 28 with access to the land.

Through gardening, farming, and community life, everyone can develop their independence, learn to grow crops, and work together to maintain and develop a local agricultural project.

MResponsibilities:

· Provide professional guidance to help young people develop their independence, practical market gardening skills, and interpersonal skills, while contributing to the farm’s operations.

· Create a safe and meaningful space for young people.

News from 2026 at Les Jardins des Jeunes

The Youth Gardens

Since May 2023, the Jardins des Jeunes, located on a 2,000-square-meter plot in the town of Bernex, have been open to young adults and teenagers ages 12 to 28.

Looking to cultivate, experiment, and share the arts of working the land with peers, while staying connected to nature!

You can participate in the group’s community garden project and cultivate your own garden on 25-square-meter plots—on your own, with a partner, or with friends.

The JDJs are managed through shared governance. The spirit of the place is characterized by a commitment to biodiversity, learning by doing in connection with nature, and living harmoniously together in this educational space of organic gardens.

Throughout the season, we offer introductory beekeeping workshops for young gardeners from the JDJ and for anyone from the town of Bernex, neighboring towns, and the canton of Geneva.

– Treatments for varroa mites

– Cosmetics made from bee products
